Product Info
Gundorph Albetus (1887-1970) began working in the Georg Jensen Silversmithy in 1911, becoming the assistant director in 1926 and remaining in this position until 1954. Albertus trained as a silversmith and at the Ecole des Art Decoratifs in Paris. His works were widely exhibited, including at the Paris Internation Exhibition of Decorative Arts in 1925, which is now know for popularizing and giving its name to the Art Deco design movement.
This rare brooch by Albertus deftly shows the influences of both the Art Deco and Arts and Crafts design movements, with its garland of flowers wrapping a striated steel column.
