About Lisa Kramer Vintage Collection
The Lisa Kramer Vintage Collection offers antique and vintage jewelry selected with an eye towards design and history, informed by my former career as an architect and my undergraduate degree in anthropology. I love the artistry of jewelry and how each piece distills elements of its era's design into beautiful wearable sculpture.
Along with extensive research, I study how a piece of jewelry has been constructed in much the same way that I look at the details of how buildings are constructed. Together, a piece's design and construction helps me determine its age. I also try to provide pieces at many different price points because good design isn't limited to expensive items.
Some of my favorites are the bold, surprisingly modern-looking, designs that were sometimes produced during the Victorian era; romantic Edwardian and Art Nouveau jewelry; glamorous Art Deco jewelry; Mexican jewelry; and artist-produced jewelry from the Arts and Crafts era, the mid-century Modernist period, and even crazy hippie jewelry.
For over 20 years I have been selling antique and vintage jewelry at shows. But my love of vintage jewelry goes back much farther, since I was teenager combing vintage stores and flea markets in New York City (where I grew up) and taking jewelry-making classes.
If you are looking for something in particular, and don't see it in my shop, please feel free to contact me as I have hundreds of additional pieces, and am constantly acquiring new ones. I'll gladly keep an eye out for you and let you know when I have something that might interest you.
I am a member of the Association for the Study of Jewelry and Related Arts (ASJRA), the Society of Jewelry Historians in both the US and the UK, the Art Deco Society of California, and the Women's Jewelry Association. I have also completed the Accredited Jewelry Professional program of the Gemological Institute of America. I am also active on Instagram, which is a good place to see previews of items that I'm bringing to antique shows.
