This trapazoidal brooch is by Ecuadorian artist Oswaldo Guayasimin. It features a polished border around a textured field; nestled in an "S" curve within are two bright blue stones.

Oswaldo Guayasimin (1919-99) was an Ecuadorian painter and sculptor know for his portrayal of poverty and the mistreatment of indigenous people. In addition to painting, he produced sculpture and designed jewelry. He attended the School of Fine Arts in Quito and his work is in the collections of many museums.
