Product Info
Anton Michelsen was one of the most important and venerable Danish silver firms, having begun in the mid-19th century receiving commissions from the Royal family. In addition to Mr. Michelsen some of the most important Danish designers worked for the company including Georg Jensen, who apprenticed with Michelsen prior to opening his own firm.
In 1972 Michelsen merged with Georg Jensen and some famous Michelsen designs such as the enameled Marguerite daisy, are now produced under the Jensen name, although this particular brooch was produced by the Michelsen firm.
The use of the Marguerite daisy in Michelsen's jewelry dates to 1940 to celebrate the birth of Princess (later Queen) Margrethe. This particular example is unusual in its use of yellow enamel, as white enamel is far more common.
