Product Info
Often referred to as the "Spratling of Peru", Graziella Laffi (1923-2009) was an Italian-born designer who successfully merged mid-century modern aesthetics with pre-Columbian motifs as can be seen in this delightful bracelet. The hinged bangle has five stylized birds with large green enamel eyes; the birds appear to be floating on water, with the bottom edge of the bracelet forming a continuous wave.
Laffi was born in Florence and immigrated to Peru after WWII. Her beautifully crafted pieces usually depict stylized or fantastical animals and often have enamel or gold highlights. A phenomenal collection of her work is in the collection of LACMA (the Los Angeles County Museum of Art).
