Hector Aguilar (1905-1986) is one of the masters of mid-20^th century Mexican jewelry.  He began his jewelry career as manager for William Spratling’ workshop from 1937-1939.  In 1939 he established his own workshop, the Taller Borda, in an 18^th century building on the zocalo in Taxco, which remained open until 1962.

These cufflinks are an exemplary example of Aguilar's work in miniature. With their scrolliing form accented by three balls of silver, they pack a lot of punch into a small area.
