In 1939, after working for William Spratling for several years, Antonio Castillo and his brothers, alons with his wife Margot van Voorhies Carr (later known as Margot de Taxco), formed their own taller (workshop) known as Los Castillo.

This stunning buckle by Los Castillo features tortoise shell carved into an endless knot and riveted to heavy sterling silver. The silver rivets form a decorative pattern of dots on the buckle.

  • Age:

    Pre-1948. The Mexican eagle assay mark was in use from approximately 1948, when it was introduced, until 1980, when a new style of hallmarking was introduced. Since this buckly does not have either mark it dates from between 1939 and 1948.

    Very good vintage condition with minor signs of use.
