Product Info
This linked pair of brooches by Mexican masters Los Castillo can be worn many ways. The brooches have a hook and slot at the bottom of the cascading dangles that allows it to be worn as a sweater or cloak clasp. But they can also be worn as conventional brooches, either individually or as a pair, or they could be worn draped from the shoulders.
In 1939, after working for William Spratling for several years, Antonio Castillo and his brothers, along with his wife Margot van Voorhies Carr (later known as Margot de Taxco), formed their own taller (workshop), known as Los Castillo. They are known for their repousse work, especially during the Margot years, married metals, stone inlay, and the use of feathers with silver.
