This spectacular brooch, known as "Arrow Moon" was made by Daniel Macchiarini in 2003. Consisting of a silver crescent moon with a large opal floating in the center, and a carved ebony arrow set with an agate, this brooch is large, sculptural, and imaginative - everything one is looking for in a piece by Macchiarini.

Macchiarini was founded in the mid-20th century by Peter Macchiarini and continued by his son Daniel. This dynasty of studio jewelers is now being continued by Daniel's daughter Emma. When I acquired this brooch I contacted their studio to find out which generation of Macchiarini designed and made this piece and Daniel graciously replied with the information provided above.
