Product Info
A golden rope entwines itself into this impressive cuff by the French house Maison Goosens.
Maison Goossens was founded by French jeweler Robert Goossens (1927-2016) and is known for its collaborations with some of the most well-known fashion designers of the 20th century. Though known for costume jewelry, Robert Goossens was a classically trained goldsmith. He grew up in the trade – his father was a caster – and apprenticed with goldsmiths who produced decorative objects for Cartier and Mellerio.
In the 1950’s Robert Goossens began collaborating with Coco Chanel and developed the Byzantine style of costume jewelry for which Chanel is still known. Goossens’ collaborations with couturiers expanded to include Balenciaga, Madame Gres, Yves Saint Laurent, Dior, Jean Paul Gaultier, Thierry Mugler, and Christian Lacroix.
In the late 1970’s Robert Goossens’ son Patrick started directing the Goossens workshop. In 2005 Chanel purchased the Goossens workshop.
