Product Info
Though approximately 80 years old, the design of this silver and wood cuff by William Spratling is so timeless that it could have been made today.
William Spratling (1900-1967) was one of the greatest designers of Mexican jewelry in the 20th century. Spratling moved to Mexico in 1928 and established his taller (workshop) in 1931. Known as Las Delicias, this workshop attracted some of the best jewelry designers and artisans of their generation including Antonio Pineda, Hector Aguilar, the Castillo brothers (who went on to form Los Castillo), and Salvador Teran. Spratling was part of a community of artists and writers in Mexico and, in addition to designing jewelry, he wrote about Mexican art and helped popularize it in the United States.
