Studio Else and Paul was founded by Norwegian designer Else Bernsten (1938-2002) and British designer Paul Hughes (1934-81) in 1959 after the two met at the Central School of Arts and Crafts in London.  Based in Hadeland, Norway (near Oslo) they were pioneers in the use of lost wax casting and in bringing the brutalist style to Scandinavian jewelry which can be seen in this marvelous brooch/pendant.
