Product Info
A hammered silver circle is surrounded by a beaded border and pierced by three tapered sections of filigree in this elegant Jugendstil pendant by Theodor Fahrner. At the center is a gorgeous honey-colored citrine. I've included a new silver chain with a period-appropriate link style.
Two similar pendants from this series are shown on page 139 of Theodor Fahrner Jewelry...between Avantgarde and Tradition by Ulrike von Hase-Schmundt, Christianne Weber, and Ingeborg Becker.
Theodor Fahrner was a German jewelry manufacturer particularly known for their Jugendstil (the German version of Art Nouveau) and Art Deco jewelry. They were based in Pforzheim, the jewelry-making capital of Germany. The company was founded in 1855 by Theodor Fahrner Sr., continued under his son Theodor Fahrner Jr., and acquired by one of the firm’s designers Gustav Braendle after Fahrner junior’s death in 1919. The firm remained in business until 1979. Fahrner was known as an “artist-manufacturer”, employing many well-known designers including Max Gradl, Hermann Haussler, Patriz Huber, Georg Kleemann, and Joseph Maria Olbrich. Fahrner also produced jewelry for other companies, most notably Murrle, Bennett & Co. of London.
