Product Info
The perforated surface of this brutalist sterling silver brooch by Wesley Emmons brings to mind sheet metal that has been shot at, or the cratered surface of the moon and is a distinctive and unusual piece of "boomerang modernist"jewelry.
Wesley Emmons (1928-2011) was a renowned Philadelphia studio jeweler. Emmons received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in jewelry from the Philadelphia Museum School of Art, where he also taught jewelry-making for many years. In 1964 he and his wife opened a jewelry store in Center City Philadelphia where they sold his designs along with those of his former students and apprentices. His work was included in an exhibit at the Philadelphia Museum of Art in 1974, and a retrospective of his work was shown at the University of the Arts in 2004.
