    High karat gold (above 18k), diamonds, sapphire, pearl. The gemstones have not been tested by a gemologist not has the pearl been x-rayed, however the age of this brooch pre-dates the invention of synthetic sapphires and cultured pearls; since there is not evidence of their having been replaced, it is most likely that the sapphire and pearl are natural

  • Marks:

    There are French eagle assay marks on the "C" clasp and on the pin indicating that the gold is at least 18 karat; there is also a partial strike of a lozenge-shaped French maker's mark on the pin, but it is difficult to read.

    Mid-19th century

  • Condition:

    Excellent antique condition. There are some minor scuffs visible under magnification, but this piece is in excellent condition for its age.
