Though known as the "Byzantine" belt/necklace, this rare and spectacular piece by Cartier is reminiscent of the heavy chains worn during the Renaissance, and frequently seen in portraits of that era.

Made of gilt silver, it consists of twenty gilt silver links plus a three-link removable pendant. The links have an openwork design with an organic brutalist texture.

What makes it even better is that it is 34" long, one of the longest examples of this piece available.
