This unusual ring by renowned studio jeweler Mildred Ball was ahead of its time and can be worn many ways. The large blue cabochon cantilevers over the edge of the ring allowing it to be worn over two fingers; rotated, it can be worn with the stone vertical; or worn on the pinky it can project beyond the hand. The shank is adjustable, giving the owner additional flexibility.

Mildred Ball (1902-1997) participated in some of the seminal exhibitions of modern jewelry in the mid-20th century including the Walker Art Center Exhibits of 1955 and 1959. She taught jewelry making in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and was active in the arts community there.

    Very good vintage condition. There are some abrasions on the stone and silver, consistent with age and wear. The shank is a little out of round, probably from having been adjusted in size.
