Product Info

This extraordinary ring was made in the late 20th century by an Austrian artist-jeweler. It features a large pyramidal aquamarine in a pale shade of blue with just a hint of green.

The ring is made of heavy sheet white gold, folded and pierced to create the shank and the channels into which the stone is set. Engraved into the white gold platform beneath the stone are diagonally crossed lines which are multiplied when viewed through the stone, to great effect.

    ring size 6-1/2. The base of the aquamarine is approximately 7/8" square and the stone rises 5/16" high

  • Weight:

    35.3 grams

  • Marks:

    "750"; the Austrian elephant's head hallmark for 18 karat gold with the assay office mark for Vienna; and a maker's mark of "MxS" which has not yet been unidentified

  • Age:

    the elephant's head hallmark was in use from 1922-2001, and this ring was likely created not too long before they stopped using this mark

  • Condition:

    Very good vintage condition. There are a few small scratches to the aquamarine on the facets visible to the naked eye when the light hits them.
