This bangle, known as "Fibula", was designed by the great Norwegian jewelry designer Tone Vigeland. It's made from heavy sterling wire, forged and twisted in the center.

Tone Vigeland (1938-2024) is one of the most important Norwegian studio jewelers of the 20^th century.  From 1958-61 she worked for PLUS, the artisan cooperative founded by Per Tannum in 1958 and led by Erling Christoffersen and Anna Greta Eker.This bangle was designed by Vigeland during her tenure at the Norway PLUS workshops.

Vigeland is known for her sculptural jewelry some of which, like this piece, are easily wearable and others of which are more challenging.  Vigeland’s work is in the collections of many museums including the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris, and the Cooper Hewitt and Museum of Modern Art in New York.
