Romantic plique a jour enamel and baroque pearls combine with a bold design in this classic Jugendstil pendant. The enamel is in an ethereal shade of pale lavender that is beautifully accented by dog tooth pearls and seed pearls set within the floral sprays. The pendant is suspended from a drop chain. The long silver chain on which the pendant hangs is not original to the pendant, but has a linkage that is appropriate for it.

The pendant does not have a maker's mark, but is likely by Heinrich Levinger or Levinger & Bissinger as the design is characteristic of their work and the way that the spray of three pearls are set is characteristic.

  • Size:

    Pendant is 3-1/2" long including the drop chain and bale, 2" long without them. The added silver chain is 19" long.

  • Marks:

    "Sterling"; "935"; "Depose"

  • Age:

    Circa 1900

  • Condition:

    Very good antique condition. There are several hairline cracks in the enamel, but no loss of enamel. It is also possible that the piece was originally gilt, as there are traces of gilding on the back of the pendant, but none on the front.
