This iconic necklace by William Spratling features a pair of hands joined by a yin yang symbol, and Inlaid with a mosaic of azurmalachite. This necklace is bold and sculptural, a remarkable work of art. It's on its original handmade silver chain with long silver links.
William Spratling (1900-1967) was one of the greatest designers of Mexican jewelry in the 20th century. Spratling moved to Mexico in 1928 and established his taller (workshop) in 1931. Known as Las Delicias, this workshop attracted some of the best Mexican jewelry designers of their generation including Antonio Pineda, Hecor Aguilar, the Castillo brothers who formed Los Castillo, and Salvador Teran. Spratling was part of a community of artists and writers in Mexico and in addition to designing jewelry, he wrote about Mexican art and helped popularize it in the United States.
