This whimsical brooch has all the qualities that collectors of Harold Balazs's work love: fantastic use of colored enamel, a stylized and graphic form of a fish, and a subject that reflects his love of nature. It is bold in both scale and color.

Harold Balazs (1928-2017) was an artist known for his enamel jewelry, panels, light fixtures, and collaborations with architects. Balazs studied painting and drawing at the Art Institute of Chicago and received his BFA from Washington State University in 1951. In 2010 Balazs was honored with a career retrospective exhibition and the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture in Spokane and in a monograph published by the University of Washington Press.
