This divine pansy brooch was designed by Georg Jensen (the man). It is hand hammered and has a lovely patina. In addition to their beauty, pansies have an important place in the "language of flowers" in which they symbolize remembrance and love, deriving from the French word "pensee" which means "thought".

Georg Jensen (1866-1935) was one of the leading silversmiths of the 20th century. He founded the Georg Jensen Silversmithy in 1904 after apprenticing as a goldsmith, studying sculpture, working for a firm producing art pottery, and working as foreman in the art metal workshop of Mogens Ballin, on of the key people in the Danish Arts and Crafts movement.
