Product Info

Transparent white enamel plaques encircle the neck in this sublime necklace by J. Tosrup of Norway. Each plaque has an elongated "S" in its center and beneath the enamel is a ribbed texture. The underlying silver beneath the transparent enamel gives the necklace a pearlescent appearance.

J. Tostrup (1832-1984) was a major Norwegian firm known for its jewelry and decorative objects. It was founded in 1832 by Jacob Tostrup and was recognized for design excellence for nearly two centuries.

  • Condition:

    Originally the silver would have had a gilt finish, but years of polishing has removed the gilding from the front of the necklace (a fair amount of gilding remains on the back side). The enamel is in wonderful condition however.
