Marsh & Co. was a renowned San Francisco jewelry store and gallery that today is most famous for creating fine jewelry using matte-finished blackened patinated steel set with diamonds, gold, pearls, and other gemstones. However Marsh, founded in 1876, began as an importer of Asian antiques and art and this necklace is a rare example of their imported jewelry. Most likely Chinese export, this necklace consists of chalcedony beads in a heavenly shade of blue with a decorative sterling clasp set with a matching cabochon of chalcedony.

The necklace is very short, only 13-5/8" long. I had the necklace restrung professionally using all the original beads but it could be lengthened by adding spacer beads between each chalcedony bead.
