Product Info
Tone Vigeland (1938-2024) is one of the most important Norwegian studio jewelers of the 20th century. From 1958-61 she worked for PLUS, the artisan cooperative founded by Per Tannum in 1958 and led by Erling Christoffersen and Anna Greta Eker, and she continued to create designs for them until they closed in 1970.
Vigeland is known for her sculptural jewelry some of which, like this ring, are easily wearable and others of which are more challenging. Vigeland’s work is in the collections of many museums including the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris, and the Cooper Hewitt and Museum of Modern Art in New York.
This ring shows how a simple element - in this case a piece of hammered wire - can be manipulated to make a wonderful piece of jewelry in the hands of an artist.
