This marvelous brooch by Rey Urban is both architectural and playful, resembling either a pile of beams and pick-up-sticks, depending on your personal reference. The bars of square silver wire form a roughly triangular stack that rises about a 1/2". In addition to being worn as a brooch, it can also be worn on a chain, as one could easily be threaded through many of the openings between the bars.

Rey Urban (1929-2015) was a Swedish designer based in Stockholm who began working in 1951. Urban trained under Swedish designer Erik Fleming. Much of his work was produced in Denmark by Age Fausing, as is the case with this brooch. In 1966 he was a founder, along with Claes Giertta and Lars Fleming, of the group "Three Smiths" (Tre Smeader) who jointly exhibited together.
