Product Info
Gustav Gaudernack (1865-1914) was a master enamalist who began working as a designer for David-Andersen in 1892; he became their lead designer in 1895 and remained there until 1910 when he opened his own workshop. After his death, the firm was continued by his wife and joined in the 1920’s by his son.
This exemplary brooch by Gaudernack manages to be both ethereal and bold at the same time through its combination of pearlescent white guilloche enamel with gold accents, punctuated by bold black flowers. Gaudernack was influenced by the Art Nouveau movement which can be seen in the scrolling line joining the flowers, but has elements of the more traditional jewelry of the Edwardian era as well.
